I fully agree that you should not try too hard to "find" a 4.2ka BP event if (as seems clear) there is no such event in your record. In fact, I suggest that you explicitly state that this is the case. It is quite clear that your record shows unprecedented dry conditions (in the context of the record length) later, after ~3.9ka BP and there is no point in spending too much time examining earlier periods that are well within the envelope of natural variability.
